What to look for before you buy your boots

So here are the main things to consider.

Choosing the right material

When it comes to finding the right ladies walking boots you need to be aware that there are two types of material used. Leather and fabric. There are a couple of differences between the two types. A leather walking boot is durable, breathable, and waterproof. Leather boots tend to be heavier and they do require a little bit of wearing in before they become completely comfortable. However, if you do a lot of walking in the summer, you may find that these boots can make you hot and sweaty.

Mid walking boots are breathable and they are seen to be more comfortable. They may still be waterproof as they are coated with a waterproof membrane, but they won’t be as waterproof as the leather women’s walking boots.

Make sure they fit right

One of the most important things when choosing walking boots for your hiking endeavors is to consider the fit. They must fit right. After all, you are using them a lot and the last thing you want is to cause sores and pain in your feet. If they don’t fit you right then they won’t be doing their job properly. You need to ensure they fit snuggly around the ankle as support and to protect the joint. But you also need to leave space for the toes. If the boots don’t fit right, then you will notice sores and blisters begin to form. Which will make walking not pleasant at all.

The three aspects of the walking boot

When choosing the right women’s walking boots there are three aspects that you will need to pay close attention to. Here is the low down on the upper, the midsole, and the outsole.

The upper

If you have chosen a leather boot, then the thicker the leather part of the upper aspect of the walking boot, the better and more supportive they are. But this can also make the boot heavier and more expensive to purchase. A fabric walking boot is lighter but will need to have a waterproof membrane. At this point, whether it is a leather or fabric walking boot, you are choosing needs to be supportive around the ankle.

The midsole

The midsole determines the level of stiffness within the walking boot. For all-around walking, which is what most people enjoy doing, you will want a medium stiffness which will make the boot supportive but it will enable the women’s walking boots to still remain light and easy to wear.

The outsole

The outsole of the walking boot is essentially the sole and one of the most important factors when choosing womens walking boots. Some describe this part of the walking boots as the tyre, and like all good tyres, you need to make sure there is a good tread. Again with an all-purpose walking boot, the tread will be deep enough to get a grip in wet and slippy terrain but not too tough where you don’t feel able to walk on uneven paths. Trying the women’s walking boots on first will help you to feel more at ease with whether you have made the right choice. Also, take a moment to think about where you walk and the type of paths you come into contact with.

Having the right protection

Protection is key to ensuring that you can enjoy the walking activities that you are pursuing. So make sure that your women’s walking boots have the right protection. There are a few things to consider to ensure that you get this right. You will want to ensure that there is some reinforced protection in place. You will be glad that you took this into account when making your walking boots purchase. Also, a rubber band that runs around the boot’s outer edge can act like a bumper. Giving you that extra protection that you will need.

Always try them on

It is essential that you always try on the boots to make sure that they are the trite fit. Things like the way your women’s walking boots will lace-up. Try on leather and fabric walking boots to decide which one feels right. When trying them try and walk on an incline as well as in most cases people don’t always walk on a flat surface. Try them at home and keep them on for a few hours. Obviously, at home, they won’t incur any damage but you can be more assured as to whether they fit right, feel comfortable, and you can have them on your feet for long periods of time.

If you do decide to keep the women’s walking boots you have chosen, then ensure that you try them on smaller walks first and build up to the usual walks you would do. This will ensure that you are not left on some big trek with boots that are not comfortable and causing issues with your feet.

Make sure you buy the correct footwear for the job. Example walking shoes for walking and snow boots for colder months.

Where do you walk?

One of the big factors you might want to think about when purchasing your women’s walking boots is the type of walking that you do. Many of us enjoy a stroll locally in a country park or woods. Some of us might enjoy hiking on the moors or going a little further afield. There will be some people who walk very seriously and enjoy trekking mountains regularly.

However, having a decent pair of mid-waterproof walking boots will benefit you wherever you decide to take your stride. Taking time to think about where you walk and the type of terrain you walk on regularly will help you when choosing your women’s walking boots.

Let’s hope this will help you when choosing women’s walking boots.
